Native American Student Services (NASS) is a place where we are here to uplifted, empowered and connect. Grounded in the traditions, heritage, and history of Native American, we support your journey though college while helping you stay close to who you are. We honor Native ways of knowing and living and we believe your voice matters. At NASS, we value equity, identity, and student leadership. Everyone is welcome to learn, grow and build community with us.

What We Do: Culturally Grounded, Student Focused – At NASS, we offer services that reflect Native values while helping you reach your goals. From your first year through graduation, we’re here to help you succeed with a focus on academic success, personal growth, and cultural connection.

Our services include:

  • Academic coaching and one-on-one support
  • Career exploration and mentoring
  • Help with admissions and financial aid
  • Leadership development and service learning
  • Cultural programs and events that celebrate Native identity
  • A welcoming space with a computer lab, study rooms, kitchen, and community lounge

We also host events to honor Native traditions, build community, and make space for learning across campus.

American Indian Student Organization

The American Indian Student Organization was established to promote the strong, cultural heritage of Native American traditions at UNC. This organization is open and welcomes all UNC community members to participate.

Licensed Psychologist, Cultural Center Liaison

Dr. Enrique Smith offers individual therapy, consultations, and drop-in care at the César Chávez Cultural Center, Marcus Garvey Cultural Center, and the Kohl House (Asian Pacific American Student Services and Native American Student Services).

Every semester, Dr. Smith’s availability does change, so please feel free to visit their space in each of the Centers and check their availability.
