Candelaria Hall, one of UNC’s main classroom buildings, was named for Martin Candelaria, an influential professor of Spanish at UNC from 1948 to 1963.
Candelaria currently houses the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and a number of its programs, a large number of classrooms and multiple department and faculty offices.
