Self-Defense Class (with UNC Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu)
Sunday, March 19
3-5 p.m.
Campus Rec Center: Lower Group Fitness Room

Learn self-defense techniques from the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu perspective. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a grappling based martial art that emphasizes ground combat. Taking an opponent off their feet and into a grappling situation on the ground mitigates the size and strength advantages of larger, stronger opponents. This makes BJJ an excellent martial art for self-defense. The class is free and is an introduction to the club's self-defense classes that will continue to run throughout the school year. For more info, contact club president Jorge.Rubio@unco.edu or join us on UNC's BearCave.

Graduate Student Appreciation Week

Event listings for GSAW 2023

Join the Graduate Student Association and a handful of other departments at UNC as we celebrate the contributions of graduate students. Graduate Student Appreciation Week (GSAW) occurs each year during the first week of April. The GSA first introduced this celebration to the UNC campus community in 2017. Each year, one or two more offices at UNC decides to participate in GSAW. The GSA hopes that in time, the entire UNC campus community will choose to celebrate and appreciate our graduate students (approximately 30% of UNC's total enrollment).

Thank you to the campus departments that did something for Graduate Students during GSAW 2022:

  • UNC Graduate School
  • College of Education and Behavioral Sciences
  • College of Natural and Health Sciences
  • Did your department do something for GSAW? Let us know: gsa@unco.edu
