Biomechanics Concentration
Our program integrates applied skill development with theoretical research. You’ll gain clinical experience in our on-campus labs. You’ll also have opportunities via off-campus internships.

Exercise Physiology Concentration
In this program you’ll examine how the body adapts to exercise. There’s a particular emphasis on heart, muscle tissue and metabolism. Focus your studies on either basic science or clinical practice. The program offers comprehensive research training that includes the following:

• Computer applications

• Statistics

• Qualitative and quantitative methodologies

Physical Education and Physical Activity Leadership Concentration
This is a research degree. It’s for students who seek careers as college or university professors or related areas. You’ll build academic expertise in physical education and physical activity leadership. You’ll also develop excellent teaching skills. This draws on UNC’s strength as an educator-training institution. Alumni of our doctoral program have a stellar record of faculty job placements. Students will be able to:

• Pursue an academic career as a faculty member.
