Take the next step in your career. You’ll gain valuable counseling experience working in community schools (K-12). Work with faculty who have professional counseling experience. You’ll have small classes that include doctoral student supervisors.

Finding Answers to Complex Challenges
With an internship, you will have the opportunity to work in diverse communities. This experience engages students in various school counseling activities. These include:

  • Individual counseling.

  • Group counseling.

  • Teacher, administrator and guardian consultation.

  • Systemic interventions.

You will learn how to:

  • Assess the needs of a school community.

  • Apply school counseling interventions.

  • Observe the impact of school counseling programs.

In this program, you will learn:

  • How to respond to K-12 student needs through individual and group counseling.

  • How to enable skill-building activities in classroom settings.

  • How to work with parents, teachers and school administrators.

  • History and current trends in school counseling.

  • Ethical and legal aspects of school counseling.
