About GradCO
Founded in 2020, GradCO is a collaboration of universities across Colorado. It provides a variety of professional development workshops, information sessions and trainings. Working together, we are better researchers, academics and career professionals.

This approach provides an opportunity to learn from experts at various institutions. It also allows you to connect with other early career scholars. GradCO provides development sessions that align with many career-readiness competencies. These are adapted from the National Association of Colleges and Employers.

This webinar explores how play can meaningfully enrich both research methodologies and teaching practices in higher education and beyond. Drawing on insights from an open-access book and classroom-tested pedagogical strategies, the session positions play not as a diversion, but as a rigorous mode of inquiry that supports curiosity, experimentation and sense-making. Presented by Matthew Farber, Ph.D., and William Merchant, Ph.D.

Being a graduate student can be one of the most fulfilling opportunities for learning and professional growth. At the same time, it can also be one of the most stressful endeavors, full of opportunities for deeply questioning our own competence, commitment and choices. How do we successfully navigate such a rewarding and perilous landscape? Mindfulness practice can’t present a roadmap to your destination or a shield to protect you from every hazard. But it can provide a reliable compass and walking stick to guide and stabilize your journey. In this talk, I will introduce a set of mindfulness techniques that, with enough practice, will support you across grad school’s ups and downs. Presented by Michael Kimball, Ph.D.
