M.M. in Music: Collaborative Piano
This program provides preparation for graduate studies and careers in performance and education. You’ll work with dedicated faculty to refine your technical skill and artistic fluency. The program includes coursework in music pedagogy, performance techniques, theory and scholarship. You’ll graduate with a skill set that supports your maturity as an artist and a professional.

M.M. in Music: Conducting
This program assists you in developing advanced competencies in conducting. You will also pursue specialized studies in the areas of choral, orchestral and wind band. Besides the Music M.M. requirements, an entrance audition is required.

You should have at least two years of experience in high school teaching or equivalent experience before applying. A personal audition is required.

M.M. in Music: Instrumental Performance
The program includes advanced coursework in music theory, music history, pedagogy and scholarship. You’ll work with your faculty adviser to structure a course sequence that supports your academic and career objectives. The program concludes with a public recital. This may include a correlative paper.

M.M. in Music: Jazz Studies
The program covers a well-rounded set of professional skills. You’ll work on performance, teaching, composing, arranging and improvisation. The program also provides opportunities for scholarship, research and teaching. You’ll graduate with a respected master’s degree and be well prepared for doctoral studies.

M.M. in Music: Music Composition
This concentration provides training for doctoral studies and careers in arranging and composing. We offer opportunities to showcase original compositions through performances of your work. You’ll develop superior aural skills. You’ll also deepen your understanding of musical form and analysis.

This program is for K-12 music teachers who want to enhance their knowledge, technique and understanding. You’ll work with a faculty adviser to choose courses that support your academic strengths and career goals. The program totals 30 credits and includes a research component.

M.M. in Music: Music History and Literature
