In this program, you’ll gain an in-depth knowledge of the Spanish-speaking world’s language and culture. At the same time, you’ll learn the latest methodologies for teaching Spanish in secondary schools.
Designed for teachers, this program can be completed over three summers.
Your training will include intensive language-immersion workshops. This is often with the expertise of well-known guest lecturers in addition to our award-winning faculty to guide you.
You’ll learn from native speakers, in small classes that offer rewarding levels of interaction and mentorship. You’ll have many opportunities to apply your learning in the field, including:
- Classroom research
- Writing for the Confluencia journal.
- The option to take part in a summer study abroad experience in Salamanca, Spain.
The program for the secondary school teacher of Spanish. It concentrates on the development of a high level of functional proficiency in the four language skills:
- Listening
- Reading
- Speaking
- Writing
There are four general content areas:
- Civilization
- Language
- Literature
- Pedagogy
The most recent methodologies are studied and researched.
