DEIB Lunch & Learn: Understanding Code-Switching

The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Committee invites faculty, staff, and graduate students to a brown bag (bring your own lunch) discussion centered on the PBS video Code-Switching: Survival Ritual Hidden in Plain Sight.

This 10-minute video explores how individuals adapt their language, tone, accent and behavior across different environments, including the workplace, family, church and social settings. It examines how code-switching can become a learned, generational survival strategy and offers an opportunity to reflect on how individuals navigate different spaces and expectations.

Following the video, attendees will participate in an open discussion to share perspectives, reflect on the topic and engage in conversation.
