Biography
Wendy Sosa is the Founder and Executive Director of the Colorado Dance Collective, a nonprofit performing arts organization dedicated to providing meaningful performance opportunities, artistic collaboration, and community engagement throughout Northern Colorado. A classically trained ballet educator, choreographer, and arts leader, Wendy has spent more than 40 years immersed in the world of dance and nearly 30 years inspiring dancers of all ages.
Her training began at the Nashua School of Dance before continuing at Boston Ballet School and touring with José Mateo’s Ballet Theatre of Boston. She earned her Ballet Teaching and Performance Certification from the Hartford School of Ballet and a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from the University of Northern Colorado. Wendy has completed Royal Academy of Dance examinations through Intermediate and has studied Balanchine, Vaganova, and Cecchetti methodologies. During her performing career, she danced original George Balanchine repertoire, including Stars and Stripes, Serenade, and Western Symphony, as well as principal roles in The Nutcracker and Graduation Ball.
Today, Wendy teaches ballet, pointe, partnering and variations throughout Northern Colorado. She is passionate about helping dancers build not only strong technique but also confidence, artistry, musicality, and a lifelong love of movement. In addition to directing the Colorado Dance Collective, she enjoys mentoring gifted young artists, collaborating with fellow arts organizations, and creating opportunities that bring dance into the heart of the community.
Wendy believes every dancer has something unique to offer, and she strives to create classes that are both challenging and encouraging. Whether working with aspiring professionals or dancers who simply love to learn, her goal is for every student to leave class feeling stronger, more inspired, and excited to continue growing.
