Biography
James earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Miami University (Oxford, OH) in 2018 and moved to Greeley, CO to pursue his Master of Science in Applied Statistics & Research Methods at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC), which he completed in 2020.
His passion for student success took root during his time in the Office of Student Life (now Student Engagement), where he served as the Student Organization Specialist and later as the Graduate Assistant for the University Program Council. Through strategic collaborations with the Marcus Garvey Cultural Center and Fraternity & Sorority Life, James began cultivating his commitment to Black student success.
After graduation, James returned to his hometown of Cincinnati to work in the research industry, spending four years at Johnson & Johnson specializing in material data for medical devices. In 2024, he returned to UNC as the inaugural Associate Director of the Marcus Garvey Cultural Center. By December, he stepped into the role of Interim Director, focusing on rebuilding meaningful connections between Black students, the MGCC, and the broader UNC community.
