Multimodal Communication in progressive aphasia: a mixed methods experience sampling study
As speech-language abilities decline, people with PPA benefit from multimodal communication. However, day-to-day use of communication modalities remains underexplored. This study used Experience Sampling Method (ESM) to characterize multimodal communication in five dyads (PPA participants and partners).
Quantifying meaningful information in incorrect naming responses following strategic word-retrieval treatment in primary progressive aphasia
Naming interventions targeting self-cueing in persons with lvPPA and svPPA have been shown to promote generalized improvement in word-finding. However, there is no established method for evaluating how well people communicate meaningful lexical and semantic information for items that are not correctly named. Using a novel scoring procedure, the Meaningful Information Score (MIS), we quantified the amount of meaningful information shared on incorrectly named or unnamed items from the Boston Naming Test (BNT).
