University Education Licensure Officer
Responsibilities
- Approve licensure eligibility for teacher, administrator, and special services candidates based on program completion.
- Complete institutional recommendations for licensure to all states and/or nations.
- Provide verification of completion and validity of programs to school districts, universities, and state departments of education.
- Ascertain candidate completion and passage of appropriate state and/or nationally approved standardized assessments required for licensure.
- Present at teacher licensure seminars to student teacher candidates, mentor/cooperating teachers and university supervisors.
- Serve on committees to ensure licensure compliance when licensure programs are created and/or revised.
- Serve as an Ex-Officio member of the Professional Education Council.
- Coordinate the admission/continuance process into the PTEP programs at the undergraduate and graduate level.
- Serve as the course administrator for three courses, including one mandatory class session, collection of a packet of required documents and submission of S/U grades for the purpose of students advancing in the PTEP program.
- Review criminal background disclosure forms.
- Review and/or contribute to new programs and/or revisions as related to teacher education and educator preparation licensing requirements.
- Review and approve course substitutions for all licensure courses in teacher education and educator preparation programs.
- Maintain communication and respond to licensure questions from coordinators of programs that offer teacher license.
- Maintain communication and respond to licensure questions from prospective, current and past students.
