Cameron Jeter, PhD

Dr. Cameron Jeter holds a PhD in neuroscience, with specific training in clinical and translational research. She has a strong and well-demonstrated interest in how oral health alters the trajectory of neurodegenerative disorders (e.g., Parkinson’s disease or Alzheimer’s disease) and how these diseases impact oral health. She also works to improve access to healthcare for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). At Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine (KansasCOM), Dr. Jeter served as Chair of the Department of Biomedical Sciences and taught in the Medical Education track.

She is the recipient of multiple awards, including the Dean’s Excellence Award in three areas: the Scholarship of Teaching, the Scholarship of Application, and the Scholarship of Integration. Recently, Dr. Jeter won the Pre-Clinical Faculty of the Year at Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine. In 2026, she was recognized nationally with an Innovation in Medical Education Award from the Society of Osteopathic Medical Educators. Dr. Jeter lectures nationally on how understanding the brain’s control of thought and behavior can improve academic and clinical outcomes.
