The Best of Times, The Worst of Times: How Faculty and Staff Support Students Through Them All
As the school year kicks off, faculty and staff are gearing up to support our University of Northern Colorado (UNC) students. Faculty and staff support students every day through their roles at UNC, but some choose to go above and beyond by donating their time, expertise and funding. A popular method of giving is through payroll deductions, which make it easy to support the various areas in need across campus. At UNC, there are seemingly endless causes to support depending on a donor’s passions and aspirations. In recognition of National Workforce Development month, we have taken a deep dive into just a few of the donor-funded causes that UNC faculty and staff support. All are welcome to support these vital scholarships and services (and many alumni employers offer matches for employee donations!).

Cumbres Program Helps Shape the Future of Education
Many programs and scholarships at UNC make a difference in students’ lives and in the community, but the multifaceted approach from the Cumbres Teacher Preparation Program is unique. Cumbres supports undergraduate students pursuing a degree in education who declare an endorsement in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (CLD) through a four-pronged approach.

Theatre Major and Diversity Advocate Lands Prestigious Internship
UNC Theatre Education and Theatre Studies student, Evette Srouji, is dynamic to say the least. Having served on student advisory boards, a student group dedicated to promoting diversity and equity on and off stage, among others, she is dedicated to trailblazing for the next generation of UNC students. This summer, she became the first UNC student to be selected as the Colorado Shakespeare Festival Theatre Management intern.
