Panopto

Panopto is a video platform used to record, store, and share lectures and presentations.

Whether you’re catching up on a missed lecture, reviewing for an exam, or just want to revisit a great class discussion, Panopto is your go-to video platform at UNC.
With Panopto, you can:

  • Watch recorded lectures and presentations on your schedule
  • Take notes and bookmark key moments in videos
  • Search inside videos for specific topics or terms
  • Even speed things up (or slow them down) to match your learning style

Learning at your pace has never been easier!

How It Works

  • Log in through Canvas
  • Go to your course and find the Panopto folder or link.
  • Click on a video to watch, or upload your own if required.
  • Use features like searching within videos, taking notes, or bookmarking key moments.

Why Do We Use It?

  • Lecture Recordings: Watch class sessions you missed or review tricky topics.
  • Study Help: Rewind, pause, and take notes while watching.
  • Assignments: Some professors may ask you to record presentations or submit video projects through Panopto.
  • Accessibility: Videos often include captions and playback speed options.

  • Find the Panopto link
It might be in the course menu or inside a specific module or week.

    • Play/Pause the video as needed
    • Adjust playback speed (e.g., 1.5x to watch faster)
    • Turn on captions if available
