Student Honors Council Officers
The Student Honors Council plans and organizes the social events of the Honors community. Here you will find a brief biography of each and their bearmail.
President - Jorie Burnes
Jorie Burnes is the President of SHAC as well as a peer mentor for HIP students, a CL for UNIV 101 honors section, and an assistant in the Honor’s office. She is a criminology and criminal justice major with a minor in psychology. She is in her 2nd year at UNC and enjoys naps and spending time with animals
Vice President - Madison Gremillion
Madison Gremillion is the Vice President for SHAC and a TA for Honors 101. She is a senior majoring in Biomedical Sciences on the pre-med path. Despite being a senior, she still has another two years left and is looking forward to making the best out of those years. She is also a non-traditional student, and she hopes to use my experience to help younger students while also finding ways for other non-traditional students to feel more accepted. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, painting, baking, and cooking, and spending time with her family.
Secretary - Angie Kaufmann
Angie is the secretary for SHAC and works at the honors office. She is a senior English major with a Writing and Theatre minor. She has been part of Honors for 4 years and is in UHP, currently finishing her thesis. Angie is very involved on campus; she loves to be where the people are. In her free time, she loves reading and making YouTube videos, performing (dance, acting, singing), teaching religious education at her church, and playing soccer with her friends.
Treasurer - Sarah Hess
Sarah is the treasurer for SHAC. She acted as the secretary/treasurer last year and is looking forward to being a part of the officer team again. She is currently a sophomore studying music education, playing in the University Symphony and Pride of the Rockies Marching Band, working on the School of Music work crew, and reinstating our chapter of the American String Teachers Association.
Public Relations Chair - Tatum Campbell
Tatum is serving as the SHAC PR Chair, and she is also working as the RA for the Honors dorm in Lujan this year. She is a fourth year Graphic Design major with a Media Studies minor. She was born in Texas but has spent most of her life in Colorado. She is passionate about art and learning new ways to be creative. In her free time, she likes to go on walks with her dog and hang out with her friends.
SHAC Advisor- Pranali Haribhakti
Pranali is serving as a co-advisor for SHAC alongside Loree Crow. She is a second-year doctoral student in the Counseling Psychology program here at UNC. She is an international student from India, but I have been in the US for a while since I pursued the entirety of my higher education here. Her experience as an international woman of color in the US has been interesting and multifaceted. If she had to put all my experiences and stories in one sentiment, it would be this: the close friendships she has made with other women since I came to the US have been incredibly supportive, inspiring, and fulfilling in my life. Her advice? Pursue friendships with the awesome women around you!!!
