The program includes coursework in music pedagogy, music theory, history and research. It has a high degree of flexibility to focus your studies on your own interests. The program includes a supervised practicum in college teaching. The program culminates in a dissertation and recitals.

This includes pedagogy, history, improvisation and arranging. You’ll also have opportunities to perform in our renowned jazz ensembles. You’ll complete the degree with two individual recitals and a dissertation based on original scholarship.
