April 27, 2023 — After experiencing hardship in high school, multiple professors helped Business major Dante Cesare fall in love with education again.
October 26, 2022 — Kennedy Dechant, a sophomore Environmental and Sustainability Studies major at the University of Northern Colorado, never imagined that she would one day be running her own business. Now the owner of the online thrift store, Eclecticism, her business began as a website she created for her web design class in high school.
March 21, 2022 — The Accounting and Computer Information Systems (CIS) Department at the University of Northern Colorado’s Monfort College of Business (MCB) has been ranked as the number one program in the world for experimental research in Accounting Information Systems (AIS). The top recognition, from among more than 630 universities measured, comes from the annual Brigham Young University Accounting rankings.
February 16, 2022 — The Monfort College of Business (MCB) at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) has announced the finalists in both the Collegiate and Open Divisions for the 2022 Entrepreneurial Challenge. Each finalist will present their business concept to a panel of experts, get actionable advice on how to move their business ideas to the next level and compete for a share of $25,000 in prize money.
February 8, 2022 — The United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) named University of Northern Colorado’s Monfort College of Business Dean, Sher Gibbs, Ph.D., a Justin G. Longenecker Fellow. Gibbs is one of four recipients this year nationwide.
November 11, 2021 — The University of Northern Colorado’s Monfort College of Business (MCB) Entrepreneurial Challenge is a unique startup venture competition for students and community members to gain real-world experience while developing their ideas. Compared to other events that are simple pitch competitions, participants learn to develop their entrepreneurial skills.

March 29, 2018 — A University of Northern Colorado student presentation of a startup business created as part of a Monfort College of Business class at the University of Northern Colorado resulted in a third- place finish in the 2018 University Startup Challenge on March 20 at the University of Denver.
March 28, 2018 — Five winners of the ninth annual University of Northern Colorado Monfort College of Business Entrepreneurial Challenge were announced during the final competition Tuesday at the University Center on UNC’s campus. They received a total of $50,000 in prize money, and business incubator services from UNC BizHub, the business incubator at UNC.
February 27, 2018 — Over 200 students earned the Dean's Citation for Academic Excellence in the Monfort College of Business at the University of Northern Colorado for the 2017 spring semester. To qualify for the citation, business majors must attain a grade point average of at least 3.50 for the semester.
February 23, 2018 — The University of Northern Colorado has selected Academic Partnerships (AP), a leading comprehensive online service provider, to expand access to the Monfort College of Business’s Masters of Business Administration (MBA) program
January 31, 2018 — Five finalists have been selected to compete in the finals of the ninth annual Monfort College of Business Entrepreneurial Challenge at the University of Northern Colorado.
November 1, 2017 — Thanks to an estate gift left by long time UNC friend and Northern Colorado business leader Larry Vosmera, UNC creates a new scholarship for veteran, active duty or ROTC students majoring in business.
September 26, 2017 — The $50,000 competition is open to pre-launch or early stage, Colorado-based startup ventures. Applications are now available at mcb.unco.edu/e-challenge and will be accepted until Monday, Nov. 13.
August 21, 2017 — The East Colorado Small Business Development Center and UNC BizHub Collaborative are excited to announce their move to their host institution at the University of Northern Colorado. Their offices are now located at UNC’s Monfort College of Business in room 0025 of Kepner Hall, 1800 17th St.
July 20, 2017 — Shawn Tebben is the inaugural Allen McConnell Endowed Chair in Accounting for the Kenneth W. Monfort College of Business and will join the Accounting faculty this fall. Her 10-year life goal to teach college realized, Tebben kicks off her time at UNC with gratitude to professor Allen McConnell and UNC’s generous donors to the Allen McConnell Endowed Chair.
May 1, 2017 — For the second year in a row, a team of six University of Northern Colorado Monfort College of Business students won the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative 2017 Consortium Case Competition April 27-28 in Denver.
April 27, 2017 — Three University of Northern Colorado business students won the award for Best Written Nomination Paper at the 2017 Better Business Bureau Torch Awards for Ethics on April 26 in Loveland.
