U.S. Customs Broker Services

UNC has delegated its Power of Attorney to a U.S. Customs Broker Service Firm, Gateway CHB. If you are importing goods to the U.S. valued over $2,500, you must utilize a Customs Broker, who will use their bond with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to secure the transaction.

  • Timeline

Once you place your order, immediately contact Purchasing@unco.edu. CBP airline or storage warehouses typically only permit two (2) days of free storage of goods before charging expensive storage fees. It’s best to connect early with the Broker to ensure they have time to prepare and file the necessary customs entries and other paperwork and obtain the CBP bond. You will need to provide your airway bill, ocean bill/ISF and any commercial documents.

  • Service Costs

Service costs all depend on the invoice amount and what government agencies are required to be engaged, as well as any duty, if applicable. Once the goods are cleared by the customs broker, the broker will act as the domestic courier and ship the item(s) to UNC. Shipping costs will apply.
