Dale originally arrived at UNC as a first-generation student after graduating from high school in rural, northeastern Colorado. He graduated from UNC in 1988 with a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance, and started his career as a Financial Analyst, and then Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis, for Thrifty Corporation, a 500-store retail pharmacy chain based in Los Angeles, California. Dale returned to Greeley with his family in 1995 and has made his home here since then. His professional background includes various leadership positions in corporate financial, operations, and executive management in companies in northern Colorado in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, consumer goods, distribution, retail, and energy services.
Dale joined UNC’s Finance & Administration staff in April 2020 as a University Aide to the CFO and was selected to fill the Assistant Vice President for Finance role in May 2021, with responsibility for leading the General Accounting Office and the Office of Budget and Financial Planning. Now, as Interim Vice President for Finance & Administration and Chief Financial Officer, Dale’s role includes responsibility for Finance, Procurement & Contracts, Risk Management, Facilities Planning & Operations, Police, Information Management & Technology, and Human Resources.
Dale has also been active in the local community. He was a six-year board member of the Greeley Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Citizens Budget Advisory Committee for the city for 2 years, and he currently serves on the board of directors for the Weld Community Foundation. He considers UNC a central aspect of his family’s love for and involvement in the community, enjoying the beauty and excitement of the campus, sports, and cultural events – especially Little Theatre of the Rockies and Concerts Under the Stars – and he's the proud father of eleven children, including four UNC students, so far. Go Bears!
