Campus Community Invited to Attend Brainstorming Sessions for UNC Goals
As the next step in the strategic planning process to operationalize UNC's vision, the campus community is invited to participate in brainstorming sessions for each element of the vision developed by students, faculty, and staff last fall.
During the meetings, President's Leadership Council members will facilitate conversations about potential goals for inclusion in the plan and collect input on priorities. The schedule is as follows:
- Empower Inclusivity: Monday, Jan. 27: 10-11 a.m., UC Columbine A
- Connect and Celebrate: Wednesday, Jan. 29: 1-2 p.m., UC Spruce A-B
- Students First: Wednesday, Jan. 29: 4-5 p.m., UC Spruce A-B
- Enhance and Invest: Friday, Jan. 31: 9-10 a.m., UC Aspen A-B
- Innovate and Create: Monday, Feb. 3: 1-2 p.m., UC Aspen A-B
Once draft goals are developed, PLC subcommittees will begin to explore strategies and metrics for achieving the vision and goals. It is anticipated that the first draft set of goals, strategies and metrics will be complete around spring break and that the remainder of the semester will be spent refining the strategic plan

One of the earliest themes to emerge when I arrived as UNC’s new president in July 2018 was a genuine desire for direction—for planning that would clearly articulate who we aspire to be and how we will get there. We are ready to do this work.
The President’s Leadership Council is serving as the planning steering committee, and there will be many opportunities for input. We are developing a draft 10-year vision for UNC this fall, which the Board of Trustees will consider in November. In the spring of 2020, we will develop draft goals for the Board to consider in June.
It is critical to hear many voices in this process. With your participation, we have a tremendous opportunity to do great things at UNC.
