Librarian to Serve on Open Educational Resources Council

Jen Mayer, an associate professor and head of Library Research Services at the University of Northern Colorado, has been selected to serve as a council member on the Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE)'s Open Educational Resources Council by Angie Paccione, Ph.D., executive director of CDHE.

The council recommends policy to the Colorado Commission on Higher Education, promotes open education resources (OER) use at public institutions of higher education in Colorado, facilitates professional development on OER, and implements the state OER grant program. Mayer is one of 15 councilors representing a variety of Colorado universities and colleges.

OER are freely available and openly licensed online teaching and learning materials accessible to students, instructors and self-learners.

Jayne Blodget, interim dean of UNC Libraries, said, “The UNC Libraries are deeply committed to supporting open education on campus. We are proud and excited to have Jen serve on the council.”

It is my intention and hope that in my role as a CDHE OER councilor, my work will help benefit students and faculty at UNC.”
