    Graduate School Announces Award Winners in First-Ever Graduate Research Symposium

    The UNC Graduate School has announced the recipients of awards for Research Evening and the NoCo 3MT® Three Minute Thesis events, as part of the first-ever Graduate Research Symposium.

    The UNC Graduate School has announced the recipients of awards for Research Evening and the NoCo 3MT® Three Minute Thesis events, as part of the first-ever Graduate Research Symposium. The recipients include: 

    Research Evening: Hutchinson-Lahman Research Award

    The purpose of the award is to support graduate students’ dissemination of their research at a national or regional conference. Award winners received travel funding to present at a professional conference.

    Oral Presentation:

    • First Place: Ashlee Kemp and Caitlin McKnight, Creative Measures and Transformative Experience a Correlational Review
    • Second Place: Jeff Bowling, Online Sports Betting and Gambling-Related Harm: A Qualitative Exploration

    Poster Presentation:

    • First Place: Lisa Paulson, The Impact of Physical Activity Leadership Training on Establishing an Active School Culture: Teachers’ and Staff Perspectives
    • Second Place: Emily Romero and Veronica Adams, Creating a student-centered culture: an Ethnographic case study in a non-hierarchical, non-traditional K8 School
    • Second Place: Lexi Wimmer and Caitlin McKnight, Chaotic growth: A Portrait of a Student with Marginalized Identities’ Experience of Transformation During Internship

    NoCo 3MT® Three Minute Thesis Competition

    The NoCo 3MT® Three Minute Thesis competition is a professional development competition that spotlights the dissertation and thesis projects of doctoral and master's students at the University of Northern Colorado. Graduate students have three minutes to present their dissertation/thesis projects in language that can be easily understood by a public audience. The winner of the competition received a monetary prize and will go on to compete in the Colorado Graduate Schools 3MT competition in Denver and the Western Association of Graduate Schools 3MT Competition in Portland, Oregon, in the spring 2023 semester.
