For first-generation students, navigating the graduate school environment can be especially challenging. Join a panel of first-generation master’s and doctoral students as well as faculty to discuss their experiences, challenges, and the support systems that allowed them to successfully navigate and thrive in their graduate careers here at UNC.

Panelists Wanted: We are searching for first-generation graduate students to participate in a Q&A panel and discussion with incoming graduate students. Sessions will take place virtually on July 14, 6-7 p.m., and Aug. 13, 6-7 pm. Our discussion will focus on your experiences, challenges and support systems during your time in graduate school. Healthy Relationships 

Healthy / Toxic Relationships During Grad School

This workshop will focus on detailed open discussion of different types of relationships, such as healthy, difficult, toxic and abusive. We will additionally cover the impacts that beginning graduate school may have on relationships and how to look for signs that your relationship may be impacted. We will provide further detail on how to take action in your relationship to set boundaries, assertively communicate and to utilize self-care. Finally, we will include a number of useful resources for you to utilize moving forward.
