Fellow Bears,

As we return from the Thanksgiving break, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for the UNC community. Your care for one another, your professionalism, and your unwavering commitment to putting Students First continue to inspire me.

What makes UNC truly special is our shared dedication to our values and the way this community shows up for each other and for our students. When we Empower Inclusivity, we ensure every Bear feels seen and supported. When we Enhance & Invest, we strengthen the foundation of our university for the future. When we Innovate & Create, we open doors to new ideas and opportunities. And when we Connect & Celebrate, we remind ourselves that joy and community are at the heart of who we are.

In the spirit of Connecting & Celebrating, I am pleased to announce that the university will be closed on Friday, January 2, in addition to our regular holiday schedule. My hope is that this extra time allows you to rest, recharge, and reconnect.

I invite you to join us as we pause and reflect on all we have accomplished the past year at the UNC Faculty and Staff Holiday Party this Thursday, December 4. This is an opportunity to come together and enjoy the company of colleagues who make this community so special.

Looking ahead, I am excited about what we will accomplish together. With your continued commitment, I know we will keep building a UNC that thrives — a place where our students, faculty, staff, and alumni are proud to call home.

Thank you for all you do to make UNC a place of care, curiosity, and possibility. I am grateful to be on this journey with you — and excited for what’s ahead.

Sincerely,

Andy Feinstein
President
