Trustees Approve Master’s Degree Program, Pass Property Resolution

March 3, 2017 — University of Northern Colorado's Board of Trustees on Friday approved a new master's degree program in psychology and passed a resolution to explore the potential sale of a university-owned property in Estes Park.
The new offering will be a master's degree in Foundations of Professional Psychology. The 30-credit program will be only for students admitted to the Ph.D. School Psychology program. Students admitted to the Ph.D. program will complete the master's degree early in the doctoral program and then continue on with the Ph.D. requirements.
The board's resolution authorizes UNC President Kay Norton to explore the possibility of selling university property known as Old Man Mountain, which is adjacent to Rocky Mountain National Park. UNC acquired the property in 1956. Norton said she's had preliminary discussions with the Colorado Nature Conservancy, which has expressed interest in the property and allowing continued use of the grounds for university functions. Old Man Mountain is currently used sporadically and mostly by campus groups for various gatherings.
In other news, the board received updates regarding:
- Alumni Relations and Development goals: Vice President Wayne Webster shared planning and progress for a comprehensive campaign with the intention of announcing campaign goals and financial progress to date on March 25.
- Campus community and climate: Vice President Katrina Rodriguez reminded the board that there will be town hall discussions to share findings and action steps for the two-year Campus Climate initiative. Details.
