UNC's Concerts Under the Stars Series Kicks Off July 5

The University of Northern Colorado's popular series of free Tuesday night outdoor summer concerts kicks off its 2016 season July 5 with a performance by the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra at 8 p.m. in the Garden Theatre. Blankets, picnic food and lawn chairs are welcome.

The rest of the series includes the Colorado Jazz Orchestra at 8 p.m. on July 12 and The Burroughs at 8 p.m. on July 26.

New this year, the School of Music will present a special Mariachi Extravaganza concert from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, at Nottingham Field. Featuring Mariachi Azteca de America and category winners from the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza, the United States' longest-running and most-competitive mariachi competition, the show includes more than a dozen of the finest mariachi vocalists and musicians in the world. The series, sponsored by the College of Performing and Visual Arts' School of Music, has been an integral part of the regional summer music scene since 1931.
