Update on SEP Camp Closing, Ongoing Activities

UNC crews were disinfecting central and west campus buildings where the SEP summer camp participants took classes and resided. UNC’s custodial staff will continue to perform extra and intensive cleanings in high-traffic areas in all campus facilities. This will be in addition to their routine cleanings of all campus buildings.

As was noted in an email to campus on Thursday, July 19, the University of Northern Colorado’s Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) closed early this year after a number of participants and staff became ill with symptoms consistent with norovirus. As the Weld County Health Department noted in a release yesterday, “The University has been very proactive in addressing this illness.” This is an update on those proactive activities.

Update- Wednesday night and Thursday (July 18-19), UNC crews were disinfecting central and west campus buildings where the SEP summer camp participants took classes and resided. Glenn Adams, director of UNC Environmental Health & Safety, says that UNC’s custodial staff will, in an abundance of caution, continue to perform extra and intensive cleanings in high-traffic areas in all campus facilities. This will be in addition to their routine cleanings of all campus buildings.

UNC facilities and services remain open and active and the university remains fully operational. The CDC offers practical guidance on preventative efforts.
