UNC Halloween-Related Events

It's that spooky time of the year where costumes are worn, tricks and treats are abundant and, most importantly, a variety of fun events are thrown. Check out this year's Halloween-related events!

This year, the University of Northern Colorado is hosting numerous Halloween-related events on campus (free and open to the public unless otherwise noted):

  1. University Center, Campus Commons Halloween Decorating Contest, October
    Departments in the University Center and Campus Commons will decorate their offices based on a theme for judged competition Oct. 31, which is when there will be trick-or-treating for children, as well.

  2. University Libraries Halloween-Decorating Challenge, Oct. 14-31

    Each University Libraries department will decorate a door or window beginning the week of Oct. 14. Libraries student employees will vote on the best designs Oct. 28-31.

  3. FETCHLAB's Howl-O-Ween Festival, 3-4:30 p.m., Oct. 25
    Gunter Hall Lawn
    Bring your dog to UNC's FETCHLAB for a Halloween-themed festival for a chance to win prizes.

  4. Day of the Dead ("Día de los Muertos"), 5 p.m., Oct. 30
    Campus Commons Multipurpose Room (1203)
    Experience altars, guest speakers, dancers and food at an annual event honoring loved ones who are deceased.

  5. Campus Rec Halloween-Related Classes, Oct. 30 & 31
    Campus Rec or Outdoor Pursuits Gear Shop
    • Zombie Zumba: 6-7:30 p.m., Oct. 30 (Upper Group Fitness Room)
      Wear your best Zombie makeup and costume and join in the fun with Zombie Zumba
    • Glow Flow Yoga: 8-9 p.m., Oct. 30 (Upper Group Fitness Room)
      Let Glow Flow Yoga light up your yoga experience with a fun atmosphere in neon and black lights
    • Smoothie Bike (Pumpkin Smoothies): 6-9 p.m., Oct. 30 (Upper Group Fitness Room)
      Hop on the Smoothie Bike and peddle your way to your self-made smoothie
    • Costume Bike Ride: 4-5 p.m., Oct. 31 (Outdoor Pursuits Gear Shop)
      Join UNC's Outdoor Pursuits staff in costume, and ride about town spreading the Halloween spirit
    • Costume Climbing: 5-11 p.m., Oct. 31 (Climbing Wall)
      Join the Climbing Wall staff in-costume and try some new routes
    • Day of the Dead Disc Golf Tournament, 7-9 p.m., Nov. 1 (Gunter Green)
      The Ultimate Frisbee Club is hosting a Day of the Dead Disc Golf Tournament that starts at Gunter Green. Registration fee is $15, which includes a glow-in-the-dark disc.

  6. Trunk or Treat, 6-9 p.m., Oct 31
    Parking Lot L
    The National Residence Hall Honorary will host Trunk or Treat in Lot L. This is a safe trick-or-treating alternative where campus community members will have their vehicles decorated and offer treats and games.

  7. Annual Spooktacular Employee Celebration and Costume Contest, 7-10 a.m., Oct. 31
    University Center, Columbine Suite

    Hosted by CSC and PASC, this year's faculty and staff celebration will include light refreshments, door prizes and costume contests. Bear Pantry donations will also be collected, and each item donated will earn you an extra ticket in the door prize drawing.

  8. "Coco" Film and Costume Contest, 5:30 p.m., Oct. 31
    Lindou Auditorium
    Join the UNC International Film Series for a family-friendly, Halloween-evening screening of the film "Coco" followed by a costume contest.

  9. Jazz Spooktacular, 6-8 p.m., Oct. 31
    Campus Commons Lobby
    Features a costume contest, music from Funk Lab and food items available to purchase from the UNC Pie Café.

  10. Día de los Muertos Event and Carnival, 11:30-4 p.m., Oct. 31, & 5:30-7:30 p.m., Nov. 1
    Lower Level of the University Center (Oct. 31) / Garden Theater (Rec Center Aux Gym in inclement weather), Nov. 1
    Join Operation Cheesecake and the César Chávez Cultural Center on Oct. 31 to drop off photos at the altar that will be built on Friday, Nov. 1. The second day will include a carnival with pop-up performances, activities and display of altars.

    Bring your student ID to these events for special treats!
