As we prepare for the Spring 2026 semester, the Affordable & Open Educational Resources (OER) Committee encourages faculty and instructors to report all course materials to the UNC Bookstore — including traditional textbooks, open educational resources and free online materials.
Timely reporting helps students plan and budget for materials before they register for Spring classes and ensures that UNC remains in compliance with federal and state transparency requirements.
Even if your course uses no-cost or open resources, please still submit them. Doing so allows the UNC Bookstore to label your course as “no-cost,” helping students make informed choices and supporting UNC’s textbook affordability initiatives.
Faculty interested in exploring or expanding the use of zero-cost resources, like OER, can find support through the Affordable and Open Educational Resources Committee and University Libraries.
