Gender Studies Minor

Program Overview

Gender Studies is an interdisciplinary program that connects with many disciplines across the University. As a result, students typically find their research, communication, analytical, theoretical and practical skills developed in other courses thrive in Gender Studies courses. Further, Gender Studies offers students the opportunities both to refine and learn new skills. Because we all interact with people who inhabit a multitude of gendered, racial/ethnic, sexual, class, national, religious, and differently-abled identities, a Gender Studies minor makes anyone a competitive job candidate and conscientious member of society. The program encourages students to situate their personal experiences within larger theoretical understandings of how individual lives fit into the social framework of local and global communities.
