Learning Community

As a freshman, you will take a class together with your Cumbres cohort.  We reserve space in one class specifically for Cumbres students.  This allows you to be with people that you live close to and build a community that supports each other academically and socially.

The Program Coordinator, Penny, is also an academic advisor for students completing a CLD or Bilingual endorsment.  She can help you make sure you are taking appropriate classes to complete your endorsement and meet all Cumbres scholarship requirements.

Cohort Class

Our first-year students take Mexican American Studies 100 together fall semester.  This is the first class in the CLD Endorsement, and you will be with your Cumbres peers in order to build community and be able encourage each other.

If you bring credits or AP scores for these classes, you will not need to register for them at UNC.  Also if you are in the CHE program, you will take their priority classes and add Cumbres classes as your schedule allows.
