Frequently Asked Questions
- What if I need to get a video in class captioned for a Student?
Faculty can submit a Captioning Request Form. Please visit the Captioning Page for more information. If you have any questions regarding Captioning, you can call at 970 351-2289, or email us at DRCTechnology@unco.edu.
- How could one of my students get accommodations?
If students inquire about getting accommodations, please refer them to our website or have them stop into the office. To learn more about the accommodation process, please look at our Getting Started Page.
- I’ve received an accommodation letter stating that a student is eligible for note-taking
services. What are my responsibilities with coordinating this accommodation?
In order to assist with university ADA compliance, it is the professor’s responsibility to request peer note-takers for their courses after receiving a student’s accommodation letter with Note-taking Services listed in their eligibilities. The following script is provided on the accommodation letter to assist you in requesting a peer note-taker. Please read this statement, out loud, to your class:
“This class requires a student to take notes each class period. The note-taker selected will receive either $45 in Bear Bucks, UNC apparel, or a certificate for 45 service hours. The note-taker must have a GPA of a 3.0 or higher. Note-takers can sign up online through DRC Online. Please see me if you are interested in volunteering as the peer note-taker.”
It is also recommended that you post or email it to students on Canvas. Once a student volunteers, you should direct them to DRC via email at DRCTechnology@unco.edu or by phone at 970-351-2289.
If you have any questions about the note-taking process or procedures, please contact DRCTechnology@unco.edu.
