Frequently Asked Questions
- What if I need to get a video in class captioned for a Student?
- How could one of my students get accommodations?
If students inquire about getting accommodations, please refer them to our website or have them stop into the office. To learn more about the accommodation process, please look at our Getting Started Page.
- I’ve received an accommodation letter stating that a student is eligible for note-taking
services. What are my responsibilities with coordinating this accommodation?
In order to assist with university ADA compliance, it is the professor’s responsibility to request peer note-takers for their courses after receiving a student’s accommodation letter with Note-taking Services listed in their eligibilities. The following script is provided on the accommodation letter to assist you in requesting a peer note-taker. Please read this statement, out loud, to your class:
“This class requires a student to take notes each class period. The note-taker selected will receive either $45 in Bear Bucks, UNC apparel, or a certificate for 45 service hours. The note-taker must have a GPA of a 3.0 or higher. Note-takers can sign up online through DRC Online. Please see me if you are interested in volunteering as the peer note-taker.”
It is also recommended that you post or email it to students on Canvas. Once a student volunteers, you should direct them to DRC via email at DRCTechnology@unco.edu or by phone at 970-351-2289.
If you have any questions about the note-taking process or procedures, please contact DRCTechnology@unco.edu.

- How do I use DRC Online Instructor Access?
- What is the DRC's policy on recording lecture's?
Students recording lecture as a disability accommodation agree to use recordings for personal study only. Recorded lectures may not be shared with anyone else, or distributed online.
Instructors may feel that it is inappropriate to record certain class discussions. You are approved to record lectures, but not necessarily discussions in which other students may reveal personal information or self-disclosure. If necessary, you or your instructor may ask DRC to help make this distinction.
- How do I log Into DRC Online?
You should be prompted to login in with the email you used to sign up. These are usually your student email.
The password is whatever you have for your Student Email, or the email you signed up with.
Once logged in you should be able to see a Welcome [Name] in the upper left corner. If this has not solved your logging in issue please contact DRCTechnology@unco.edu.
- How do I fill out exam instructions?
You’ll receive an email with a link to fill out instructions for each exam scheduled at DRC individually. If you have any questions please contact DRC@unco.edu.
- How do I Access a Completed Exam File?
To access your Exam, please login to your DRC instructor portal by visiting Here and clicking "Instructor Login" on the right side of the page. Once logged in using your UNC credentials, click on the "Alternative Testing" link to the left. Then click on the Completed Exam files in the upper right. Navigate downward and click "View" on the completed exam/test/quiz. Every time you click on "View" it will generate a new code.
