In compliance with the “Timely Notice” provisions of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, UNC is issuing the following notice of a crime that occurred on or adjacent to the campus.

UNC Police received a report of a burglary that occurred at a sorority house that is not on UNC property over night or during the early morning hours today (Sept 9, 2024). The UNC Police and Greeley Police Department responded and searched the residence but did not find an intruder on site. It appears based on evidence that at least one person did break in and remained inside for an unknown period of time. There was evidence of drug use by the suspect(s) and several items were stolen.

At this time there is no suspect information and this report is still under investigation.

UNC Police will provide increased patrols in the area.

In compliance with the “Timely Notice” provisions of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, UNC is issuing the following notice of a crime that occurred on or adjacent to the campus.

Aug. 17 and 18, UNC Police received five reports of motor vehicle thefts of electric scooters in the J Lot (parking lot south of west campus resident halls) and outside of South Hall and Butler Hancock Fields.

Theft is a crime of opportunity and thieves often look for “easy opportunities” to take something.  The anti-theft tips listed below may not prevent all crimes of theft, but they are deterrent to thieves and help protect your property.

Anti-theft Tips

  • Always lock your bike, even if you’re only gone for a minute.
  • Using two locks is even better than using one.
  • Take pictures of your bike/scooter and keep a copy of the serial number.
  • Avoid using cable lock as they are not as secure as a U-Lock.
  • It's highly encouraged to register your bike and electric scooters with Parking Services.
  • Free U-Locks are available after you register your bike or scooter with Parking Services.
  • Contact UNC Police if your bike/scooter is missing at 970-351-2245.
  • Report any suspicious activity to the UNC Police Department immediately at 970-351-2245.

Review this video from UNC Police to see the best practice on locking up your bike/scooter.
