Students in the Environmental and Sustainability Studies program are given opportunities to engage with faculty and other UNC and community partners outside the classroom to gain experience while making a real difference at UNC and in the community while still in school.

Community Engaged Learning

The ENST program is committed to contributing to sustainability and student learning through community engaged learning, including through courses that engage the community through outreach, partnerships, service learning, and field trips.

Campus Sustainability

Student LEAF strives to empower students in transforming the campus community towards a more sustainable culture through collaboration of students, faculty, and staff in funding projects such as building and grounds improvements and education initiatives that promote a sustainability-conscious lifestyle.

Campus Environmental Action

The UNCO chapter of Earth Guardians, a globally recognized environmental action club, is devoted to raising awareness of the ethical rights and treatment of all. Earth Guardians hosts workshops, educational activities, and direct-action plans (such as a Zero Waste initiative) on campus to empower fellow UNC bears to join the movement and work towards a sustainable future.
