UNC’s Criminology and Criminal Justice faculty are actively engaged in innovative research on school safety, marijuana legalization, offender reentry, domestic violence policy, and offender mental health.

The Criminology and Criminal Justice program is grounded in the liberal arts tradition, which allows students the opportunity to critically examine the complex social, cultural, and ethical issues informing decision-making and community response. Through coursework, internships, and job fair events, CRJ students learn to serve their communities in rewarding careers and gain preparation for advanced study in graduate or law school.

The department offers a bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, a minor in Criminology and Criminal Justice, a certificate in Criminal Investigation, and a master’s in Criminal Justice (on-campus + online hybrid program based in Loveland).
