Summary of Topics and Action Items

  • Start: Probation and Suspension Updates

    hayley.blackburn@unco.edu

    • 48 Suspended Students received 3 emails: 1 from laura.beyers, 1 follow up inviting them to Zoom from hayley.blackburn, and 1 with the Zoom recording + links and resources they need from probation. May 25 is hard deadline for appeals. Decisions will be made by June 2 with record updates June 3.
    • 80% ASW Completion Rate for P1 students (79% in Fall). ASW complete group ended with an average GPA of 1.69 compared to 1.46 for the non-ASW group* with many known confounding variables
    • 32% of our Spring cohort back to GS (37% in Fall) and 19% were suspended (18% in Fall)
    • Hayley will provide a full report and strategy recommendations in June.
  • ~8 minutes: Bear Central Updates

    Registrar charlie.couch@unco.edu

    • Will be hiring 1 Bear Central Specialist
    • Reviewing tools for registration tools (i.e. College Scheduler and Ellucian Degree Works with Planner for registration). These are being tossed around with more info to come
    • They are writing a policy around the new House Bill to not withhold transcripts due to outstanding bill: Read about the Bill and Read news article about the bill for context. Stephanie is on the committee and will keep advising leadership in the loop.
    • Need to solidify major changes for NSO season. Will follow-up during the NSO Working Group Sessions

    ~16 minutes: Financial Aid, marvin.somero@unco.edu

    • Reminders that SAP is separate from the Academic Suspension policy. 2.0 GPA and 67% completion rate for all courses they enroll in (withdraw often impacts that completion rate): Review the SAP Policy
    • The admissions-based scholarships do not consider Test Scores in the automatic scholarships, just HS GPA.
    • Cares Act funds are still remaining and they are doing very targeted outreach to eligible students. There is a very small amount left—like less than 10k.
    • Will have verification relief again—this is the audit process for FAFSA. Around 40% of students are selected for auditing (down from close to 90%)
    • UNC lost over 1k Pell-E students. There has been a slight increase in the max Pell Grant by a few hundred dollars.
  • ~26 Minutes: New Student Orientation and Slate Overview
