Community Engagement

PASC participates in a variety of community service activities each year. Past projects have included providing meals at the Greeley’s Guadalupe Center homeless shelter and collecting and shipping “care packages” to military personnel stationed in combat zones in the Middle East.

Volunteers are needed to assist with various PASC community service projects throughout the year. If you are a professional staff employee and are interested in helping with a project or have another area of interest you would like to discuss, please contact one of the elected PASC Representatives.

Bear Pantry

The purpose of the Bear Pantry is to supplement the food supply for any UNC students who may be experiencing hunger and are struggling to buy food. College students who experience food insecurity often struggle to support themselves while working, attending classes, and dealing with other life issues. The UNC Bear Pantry hopes to minimize food insecurity while UNC students work toward completing their education. PASC will be supporting the Bear Pantry in ongoing effort to keep the shelves stocked!

Helping Hands

As the holidays approach, it is important that we reflect on not only what the holidays mean to us, but also how we can help our friends and colleagues enjoy the season. Do you know of a UNC employee who could use some extra help this season? The Faculty Senate, the Professional Administrative Staff Council (PASC) and the Classified Staff Council (CSC) are sponsoring a "Helping Hand" for UNC employees who may have fallen on hard times and may be struggling during this holiday season.

TO MAKE A DONATION:
If you would like to donate cash or a gift card in any denomination from a local merchant (e.g. King Soopers, Safeway, Walmart), or if you have additional ideas for donations, please contact Aimee Rogers (1-2594).

Our council members would be happy to pick donations up at a time or place convenient for you.

RESTRICTIONS:
So that we may comply with UNC Accounting and Federal gift rules, we cannot accept checks.  Due to storage and logistical issues, we cannot accept food. Cash donations will be used to purchase gift cards from local merchants.

Staff Recognition - Employee of the Year 

Each year the PASC Employee of the Year program recognizes exempt employees at UNC who go above and beyond in their work. Recipients exude everything it means to be a Bear in everything they do and make a difference in our campus community. Any exempt employee with a .50-full-time position that has worked at UNC for at least one year (in any capacity) is eligible to be nominated.  The winner and all nominees will be recognized at the Employee Recognition Banquet each Spring.
