History

Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc was founded on March 11, 1986 at California State University, Chico. Kappa chapter is the tenth chapter founded of the organization. All chapters of Lambda Theta Nu are recognized by their universities. We step/stroll with machetes to symbolize our culture and strength of Latina women.

Kappa chapter was founded by four outstanding women on April 19, 1997; July Torres, Carmen Rivera, Julianne Madrid & Monica Quezada. Looking for a support system for young Latinas away from home, they found this support in the sisterhood of Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc and each other. They set the precedent for the type of women who join the Kappa chapter of Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc & we owe them a great deal of gratitude. Through their dedication & sacrifice those who have followed them have found solace & comfort in the bond of sisterhood they established. Through the continued dedication of Kappa chapter's members this sisterhood continues to flourish.
