Dia de Los Muertos

The Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) is Mexican celebration of life. It focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. The symbol of the skeleton represents the dead playfully mimicking the living.

The Department of Hispanic Studies hosts an annual Dia De Los Muertos celebration. The program includes altars and performances by Mexican American Studies students.

Mexican American Studies Society

The Mexican American Studies Society is a student organization at the University of Northern Colorado that seeks to educate the campus community on the many issues affecting Mexican Americans, Xicanx and Latinx communities in the United States through cultural events and student civic engagement. Acting as well as a support system for all of our members and allies, the MAS Society aims at providing leadership development opportunities for all of its members at local and regional levels.
