The Center for International Education staff is working remotely. In light of Campus closure and as a precautionary measure regarding COVID-19, many employees in the the Center for International Education are working remotely in an effort to best support our campus community. At this time The UNC-CIE Passport Office Facility is not accepting passport applications until further notice. We appreciate your understanding as we prioritize health and safety. Updates will be published to our COVID-19 information page as the situation develops. U.S. Passport Office

The Center for International Education has been designated by the U.S. Department of State as a Passport Application Acceptance Facility serving all U.S. citizens. The CIE Passport Office is a full-service passport office that accepts U.S. Passport applications, takes passport photos, and provides customer assistance with passport questions.

Required Documents

Proof of ID
Typically this is your driver license or other official government issued ID.  Minors do not need to have an ID when parents are present with acceptable ID.

Proof of Citizenship
Typically this is an original birth certificate.  This may also be a certificate of naturalization.  Only original documents may be accepted. If you were born in Colorado you can obtain a birth certificate from the Weld Public Health Office.

Passport Photo
CIE charges $5 for the one passport photo required by the U.S. Department of State for your passport application.

DS-11, application for new US Passport.  You may pick this up from CIE, another acceptance facility, or online

Costs

UNC Passport acceptance (execution) fee is $35 (per passport) payable to UNC by cash, check or credit card.
