UNC Catering Information During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The health and safety of our clients, your guests, and our staff is UNC catering department’s highest priority. We will meet, or exceed, all state health and safety guidelines requirements for your event.

  • During the 2020-2021 academic year we will offer a limited menu and delivery-only catering.
  • Due to limited resources we will only be catering to internal UNC groups.
  • Catering will only be delivered on-campus and to UNC facilities.
  • All events that request catering of any kind must finalize details with event coordinators, be approved by the catering department, and be approved by the UNC Environmental Health and Safety department at least 10 business days (not including the day of the event) prior to the event.
  • Due to limited resources the catering department may not be able to accommodate all requests.  Therefore, we recommend booking your events as soon as possible.
  • All groups will need to choose from our limited COVID-19 Menu.  Special menus will not be permitted during this time.
  • Following state guidelines all food we be prepackaged and delivered in a manner to discourage “self-serve buffets”.
  • We will do our best to provide what was ordered. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic there may need to be changes in the menu due to cost and availability of products. Your event coordinator will work with you and the catering team to provide the best options in the event a substitution is necessary.
  • While we will make every attempt maintain our prices, economic conditions dictate we have flexibility. Therefore, all prices are subject to change during the 2020-2021 academic year. But, once the menu selections are made and the event is booked, the price will stay firm.
  • This special menu and prices are available for orders delivered from August 15, 2020 through May 31, 2021. For menu options for events after August 15 please contact our event coordinators.

Minimum Order

Catering orders must have at least a 10-person guest count. Due to production needs some items on the menu require a 12 or 25 person minimum.

Special Dietary Requests

We will do our best to meet your requests when possible.

  • Dietary requests such as the need for gluten-free friendly, vegetarian, vegan, or lactose-free meals for individual guests, should be made at the time of booking.
  • There are a variety of foods offered that will accommodate individuals with special dietary needs. Please choose the option that best meets the needs of your group.
  • If there are specific concerns with ingredients of foods or you need help choosing options that will fit the needs of your group, we are happy to help you choose the correct menu options. Let you event coordinator know your needs and we will let you know what options there are – many items in the menu can be made to meet your dietary needs.
  • Some items will require a minimum order size for special requests.

Delivery-Only Catering

  • UNC dining services staff will package your food in a touch-free manner.
  • We will work with guests and event planners on set up, tables, drop-off time, and clearing up assistance.
  • Linens. Table linens can be provided for the buffet tables or guests tables (for a fee) upon request.
  • We will deliver the food during the agreed upon delivery time-frame and all food will be prepared and delivered in a healthy and safe manner; including the use of gloves, masks, and heightened cleaning protocols.
  • We will provide items individually packaged and will provide single serving condiments, cutlery, and other “accompaniments.”
  • Food safety. Cold items will arrive chilled and will need to be consumed with two hours of delivery.  “Room temperature” items such as baked goods need to be consumed within four hours of delivery.
  • Beverages will be
    • Provided individual single-serve bottles or cans.
    • Item such as coffee and tea will be poured and served by our staff. Individual creamers and sweeteners will be made available.
