2024 HLC Self Study

On October 21-22, 2024, a review team from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) visited UNC for the university’s ten-year reaffirmation of accreditation. While at UNC, the team met with individuals and campus groups to learn more about the many ways that UNC meets the HLC accreditation criteria.

Over 100 UNC faculty, staff, and students  contributed to UNC’s self-study preparation and the team’s visit. In addition, while on campus, the team met with nearly 200 members of the campus community in open forums and focused meetings. View the meeting schedule here.

In the coming weeks, the team will compile a report based on UNC’s self-study and evidence the university submitted in September and information from the campus visit. UNC will receive the team’s report in four to six weeks and have an opportunity to write a response. Both the team’s report and UNC’s response will be reviewed by the HLC’s Institutional Actions Council, which makes accreditation decisions. UNC will receive the HLC’s decision sometime during spring semester.
