PSI Project: An OSEP Grant

Susan E. Brown, M.Ed., Ed:K-12 is a recent retiree of the University of Northern Colorado Department of ASL & Interpreting Studies. While with the department, Ms. Brown worked in the capacity of Administrative Coordinator -- responsible for recruiting, admissions, special projects and grant coordination and was a member of the department’s Faculty. In addition to her work with UNC, Ms. Brown was the Project Director for the Colorado Commission for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind Rural Auxiliary Services. Ms. Brown has been engaged in the field of educational interpreting as a practitioner, researcher, curriculum developer, author, and local and national presenter. Her resolute passion has been identifying, practicing, and educating others regarding best practices for interpreting in an educational environment. Over the years, she served on several RID committees that focused on interpreting in educational settings and was the Steering Committee Chair for the development of the National Association of Interpreters in Education (NAIE). Ms. Brown served as NAIE Board President from 2016-2019. Most recently, Susan was the recipient of the Colorado Division for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deafblind, awarding her the 2025 Susan J. Elliott Award.
