
PSI Project: An OSEP Grant
Kelly Hodgins, M. Ed, NBCT, CI, CT - Kelly Hodgins is a nationally certified interpreter and experienced educator with over 25 years of experience teaching Deaf and hard-of-hearing students, as well as students with general special education needs. She currently serves as a Special Education Teacher at Athens Drive Magnet High School, the nation’s top magnet school, located in Raleigh, NC.
Kelly earned her Master's degree in Deaf Education from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR, and began her teaching career at the Missouri School for the Deaf in Fulton, MO. There, she taught English to high school students, ASL to the hearing staff, interpreted for various school events, served as an assistant basketball coach, traveling with teams to the Great Plains School for the Deaf tournaments.
Throughout her career, Kelly has been dually certified as both an interpreter and a Teacher of the Deaf, and then in General Special Education. She partners with classroom teachers across multiple disciplines, frequently co-teaching in math while also managing a resource classroom, overseeing data collections and coordinating numerous IEPs each year. A National Board Certified Teacher, she is committed to building collaborative learning environments where students can thrive.
In addition to her work as an educator, Kelly has been RID certified since 2000 and brings 30 years of experience interpreting in the community, VRS, and educational settings. She has supervised classroom interpreters for one of the nation’s largest school districts and mentored educational and community interpreters. Kelly is passionate about supporting and guiding new interpreters as they enter the field, sharing the skills and confidence they need for long-term success.
