
PSI Project: An OSEP Grant
Carrie Woodruff is a Credentialed Supervision Leader and seasoned professional in the field of ASL-English interpreting, with over two decades of experience in educational interpreting. She currently serves as the DOC Intake Advisor in the ASL-English Interpretation BA program at UNC, where she works closely with applicants to assess readiness and support professional growth in alignment with program standards.
In addition to her work at UNC, Carrie is the Educational Interpreter Coordinator for Colorado Springs School District 11. In this role, she coordinates a team of educational interpreters in Colorado Springs School District 11, ensuring high-quality interpreting services and professional growth. Carrie is deeply committed to reflective practice and ethical decision-making in the interpreting profession. As a Credentialed Supervision Leader through the Interpreting Institute for Reflection-in-Action and Supervision (IIRAS), she facilitates supervision grounded in the Demand-Control Schema (DC-S), a framework she also helped develop curriculum around at UNC. Her supervision practice encourages interpreters to examine the complexity of their work and to grow through critical reflection and peer dialogue.
Her academic background includes a BA in ASL-English Interpretation from UNC, an Educational Interpreter Certificate from Front Range Community College, and she is currently completing an MA in Intercultural Studies with a concentration in Peace and Conflict Transformation at Biola University. Carrie also holds a Leadership & Supervision Certificate from UNC, further supporting her commitment to ethical leadership and mentorship in the field.
Throughout her career, Carrie has served in a variety of roles, including adjunct instructor, administrative coordinator, and project leader on national interpreter education initiatives. She brings a unique blend of practical experience, instructional expertise, and a passion for fostering community and accountability among interpreting professionals.
