Rahwa Meharena holds a dual B.A. in Africana Studies and Journalism from the University of Northern Colorado and an M.A. in International Relations from Hult International Business School in London. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the California Institute of Integral Studies for the Anthropology and Social Change Department.
Rahwa Meharena is an adjunct instructor for the Africana Studies Program. She joined the faculty at UNC in 2013.
In additional to her scholarly activities, Rahwa is also involved in community engagement and medical health education for Ethiopian and Eritrean women and girls in the Bay Area.
Rahwa is interested in research that centralizes the voices of women and is looking to make an impact on how people view cultural practices for and by women across the African Diaspora. Her research interests include medical anthropology, African history and culture, black feminist thoughts, conflict resolution and women's health.
