Michelle Morlock, M.A.

Doctoral Intern

Education

I am a Doctoral Candidate in the Psy.D program at Fuller Graduate School of Psychology and Marriage & Family Therapy located in Los Angeles, CA. During my program at Fuller, I also completed my Master’s in Clinical Psychology. Prior to Fuller I completed a M.A. in Marriage & Family Therapy and finished my undergraduate (BA) at North Park University in Chicago. I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of treatment settings including University Counseling Centers, Community Mental Health, Intensive Outpatient & In Patient and Private Practice contexts. Having trained in an array of treatment settings I have had the privilege to work with clients across the life span (age 4-70) and from diverse populations regarding ethnicity, race, gender identity, sexual identity, spirituality, immigration status, different abled bodied and neurodiversity. Prior to entering graduate school, I spent seven years in the corporate business sector with a focus on operations, training, and development.

Roles

At the UNCO counseling center, I provide Individual Therapy and Group Therapy. In addition to therapy services, I also provide secondary supervision to Master level practicum students at UNCO Counseling Center. My approach to supervision utilizes a strength based developmental, competency-based model that is multiculturally sensitive. While supervision is not therapy, I believe having a quality relationship between supervisor and supervisees to be the foundation for a healthy supervision experience that is growth producing and empowering.

Theoretical Orientation

First and foremost, my approach to therapy places a high value on the relationship between therapist and client that is multiculturally sensitive and strength based. I desire to foster a non-judgmental space in which clients feel heard, seen, and understood and we work collaboratively towards their goal for therapy. While I conceptualize from a relational psychodynamic orientation, informed by family systems and attachment theory, my approach to treatment interventions is integrative so to best meet the specific needs of each client.

About Me

Originally from Chicago I am a Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks fan and developed a deep love of Jazz and architecture. When not at work I enjoy spending time outdoors whether by a lake with a good book ( I grew up on Harry Potter), listening to music, biking, hiking, or snowshoeing. I also enjoy learning to cook new recipes, bake and sharing a meal with family and friends. As someone who has been fortunate enough to have Golden Retrievers, Yellow Labs and Golden Doodles throughout their life I am a dog lover as well. I am excited for the opportunity to live in Colorado and honored to serve the UNCO community.
