Division of Development and Alumni Relations

Alumni, parents and friends of UNC believe in the institution's mission, and through their philanthropy ensure that UNC students have the financial and programmatic support to succeed and that faculty members have the funds to pursue research for the betterment of our communities.

The Division of Development and Alumni Relations is responsible for directing institutional advancement through the engagement of donors and alumni in philanthropy, volunteerism, and the responsible management of gifts and constituent records. The division works closely with the UNC Foundation, campus leadership and academic offices to develop the strategies that provide private, philanthropic support for UNC’s current priorities.

Campaign Leadership Transition

April 2017 - President Kay Norton announced Vice President Wayne Webster's departure for a similar position at the College of Wooster. President Norton announced her promotion of Allie Steg Haskett as the next Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations. The transition will be effective May 20.

The Campaign for UNC

March 2017 - On March 25 Development and Alumni Relations announced the University's first-ever comprehensive fundraising initiative - The Campaign for UNC - with a $45 million goal to be raised in support of key University priorities and concluding in December 2018 with the opening of Campus Commons.

But the campaign isn't only about the dollars invested, it is about the people involved - YOU!  Help UNC engaged 10% of our living alumni in the campaign when you get involved as a campaign donor and volunteer.

Donor Engagement and Philanthropy

Involving donors in the advancement of UNC's mission, and matching their philanthropic passions with university priorities, is at the heart of our work. This effort is led by the division's development team.

Programs and Communication

Working with volunteers on and off-campus, the division's alumni relations team is responsible for informing and involving alumni, parents and friends through events, programs and publications.

Data and Gift Management

More than 140,000 individuals have graduated from UNC and thousands give each year requiring a secure and robust data and gift management process, which operates under the direction of the division's advancement services team.
